# The Footnote > A comic-documentary series about how ordinary businesses actually make money. > Every figure quoted in an episode is published here with a link to its primary > source, the year it was measured and the method behind it. The name is literal: in company accounts, the uncomfortable facts are disclosed in the footnotes — legally, in plain sight, where almost nobody reads them. Each episode takes one ordinary business and explains the mechanism; this site carries the evidence. ## Editorial rules - A figure is published only with a primary source: a regulatory filing, a survey with a stated sample and fieldwork date, or a peer-reviewed paper. Blogs and vendor marketing pages are not sources. - The mechanics described are legal, disclosed and audited. Episodes explain systems, they do not allege crimes. - Corrections are published on the episode page with the original wording kept beside them. ## Pages - [Home](https://footnoteshow.com/): what the series is and how it is made. ## Contact hello@footnoteshow.com
